2 fire appliances and a rescue tender from Yeovil were mobilised following a call from the Police requesting our attendance to a one vehicle RTC, where a van had left the carriageway and hit a tree, trapping the driver.

Crews were on scene within minutes of the initial call and confirmed the driver was seriously trapped. Crews worked alongside ambulance paramedics to stabilise the vehicle and casualty before preparing to extricate them using hydraulic cutting equipment, as well as a hydraulic winch. Due to the position of the vehicle and driver crews had to work carefully to ensure a safe and steady extrication. Once released the casualty was conveyed to hospital via air ambulance. The incident was under control at 01:49hrs whereby duty of care was left with the Police.
