Location: Main Street, Mudford, Yeovil
Fire Control received a call from Police informing of a road traffic collision with persons still trapped within the vehicle. Fire Control immediately sent two fire engines from Yeovil fire station to the incident.
On arrival, the incident commander confirmed that there was a one vehicle road traffic collision involving one vehicle, and one male casualty was still within a private car. Crews awaited the arrival of Ambulance to assess the casualty before being able to formulate a plan to extricate him, and ensured that the vehicle and scene were safe and stabilised.
Following assessment by the Ambulance service, crews set up hydraulic cutting equipment to enable them to cut the roof off the car, to allow the male to be safely removed. Once extricated from the vehicle the casualty was left in the hands of the Ambulance. The scene was then made safe and the incident was left in the hands of the Police.
